Driving WIld in Pensacola Florida with Kyle Benjamin

Kyle Benjamin is your typical 13-year-old. He likes to ride his bike, play video games, play with his friends and travel with his family.

Where Kyle is different comes from his favorite hobby… driving racecars. And there are plenty of aspiring racecar drivers out here, but Benjamin is one-of-a-kind, driving full-size racecars at just 13 years old and regularly competing with and beating drivers... sometimes double or even triple his age. It’s always been a fast learning experience for Benjamin, ever since he took his first laps behind the wheel of a competitive racecar at the age of six years old.

And it didn’t take Kyle long to start moving up through the ranks and racking up wins. In fact, in just his second-year of competitive racing, Kyle already earned his first championship and racked up an amazing 19 wins and 47 top-five finishes in various Go-Kart and Quarter Midget classes.
The natural next step for the then 8 year old was into 600 Racing’s thriving Bandolero class. In his first season of Bandolero competition, Benjamin earned another title, the South Carolina State Championship. He followed up that title the next year and also became the youngest ever winner of the Bandolero Nationals, taking home that title in 2007.

The 2008 season was Kyle’s breakout year. Once again, he was crowed South Carolina State Champion, along with the Bandolero Winternationals Champion, Battle at Bristol Regional Champion and Speedway Challenge Champion at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

So, once again, it was time to move forward.

In 2008, Kyle began dabbling in the world of the Pro Challege Series, ¾-scale racecars with the same characteristics of their big-brother counterparts.

In 2009, the Pro Challenge world was Kyle’s world. Competing in the Southern and Northern Divisions, Benjamin wrapped up an impressive 15 feature wins in just 23 starts and locked up the Southern Division Championship.

So, with no where else to go but up, Kyle, at just 13 years of age, Kyle embarked on a steep new learning curve in 2010, racing the king of the short track world, Pro and Super Late Models around the Southeast. Kyle ran up front with veterans several times his age, scoring several top five and top-10 finishes. He concluded the 2010 season with a strong showing in the crown jewel of the Pro Late Model world, the Snowflake 100, during Snowball Derby week at Five Flags Speedway (FL). Kyle set atop several practice sheets, then qualified and raced well in the all-star event.

2011, Kyle will be touring the Southeast, competing in several Pro Late Model and Super Late Model touring series.
